History

The Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Department was established in July 1968.  The first meeting was held at the local barbershop owned by Robert Graham.  One of the first pieces of equipment used was a tractor owned by Jack Davis, which they attached a water pump too.  The first truck they purchased was an open cab Mack fire truck, it was housed at a local garage.  The first ambulance was purchased in the mid 1970's with a donation.   The old school house on Route 27 was later purchased for the fire department and it is still located there today.  Our fire department now has two ambulances, a tanker,  an engine, a brush truck and the kabota for EMS or brush fires.
